This page defines language competency levels from the point of view of NetLingua. When you create a book, you target one of those levels.
Beginner can not really communicate in the language. He/she knows from 0 to 600 words and can only use basic grammar. He/she can say learned sentences and uderstand provided answers. He/she can also cope with very basic social situations like greetings, shopping etc. and knows basic facts on the civilization of people that use the target language.

The book should familiarize the learner fairly thoroughly with the pronunciation and orthography of the target language. Only most common and useful grammar patterns introduced. Advanced learner can speak freely, even on special subjects. He/she can participate in discussions and use discourse strategies. Knows from 2000 to 5000 words and does not have problems to use complex grammar constructs. Familiar with culture and social patterns of the target language.
